A New Approach to Cybersecurity - The Dojo

Earlier this year, an HP study found that all the connected home security systems it tested had critical flaws — from encryption issues to a failure to require strong and complex passwords — that left them vulnerable to spying. In the current Wild West of the smart-home landscape, the responsibility of policing our devices rests on consumers’ shoulders, and most of us don’t know where to begin.

The Dojo-Labs introduced Dojo, a two-device system that monitors all your connected equipment for cyberattacks. One part connects to your router; the other, which looks like a smooth, black rock, sits out in the open and flashes different colors based on what’s happening on your network. Green means good, orange means something is happening but the system is taking care of it, and red means you need to intervene. The display unit is battery powered and connects via Bluetooth. “This pet rock can be located anywhere at home and give you in the blink of an eye the overall situation of your home security without giving you all the details.

PhotoMath - Smart Camera Calculator

Meet the new digital math solver - PhotoMath.
PhotoMath reads and solves mathematical problems by using the camera of your mobile device in real time. It makes math easy and simple by educating users how to solve math problems.

Its newly unveiled PhotoMath for iOS and Windows Phone (Android is due in early 2015) uses your phone’s camera to scan math equations and not only solve them, but also show the steps involved. It’s aim is to help save you time flipping through a textbook to check answers when you’re doing homework or cramming for a test. However, it could also be the death of studying and a new must-have in an exam hall.

Have you Rebooted your Computer? - The Master Fix

Try asking an IT support person how to fix a problem you’ve having with your Windows computer, they'll most likely ask “Have you tried rebooting it?” This seems like a flippant response, but rebooting a computer can solve many problems.
Why does resetting a device or restarting a program fix so many problems? And why don’t geeks try to identify and fix problems rather than use the blunt hammer of “reset it”?
Bear in mind that this soltion isn’t just limited to Windows computers, but applies to all types of computing devices. You’ll find the advice “try resetting it” applied to wireless routers, iPads, Android phones,

Introducing Liquid Jade 7 - from Acer

What’s most obvious about the Liquid Jade Z is its weight and thickness, or lack thereof. At a mere 110 grams and 7.9mm thin, it’s considerably lighter and thinner than other handsets with 5-inch displays. The feathery design has much to do with the type of materials used to craft the device, and it’s mostly down to a thinner plastic back, etched in a unique pattern. It does improve grip, and doesn’t look too bad, but premium craftsmanship, this is not. The lens protrudes out noticeably, which comes as no surprise when the phone’s body is this thin. At the bottom is the rear speaker.

The front is pretty standard. Gorilla Glass 3 should help keep the 5-inch display relatively scratch-resistant and free from cracking. The slot for the nano SIM and microSD card (or dual nano SIMs) comes out of the left, and it proves to be finicky to put back in with the cards in place. Screen resolution takes a bump down to 720p, but pixel density is a respectable 294ppi, and with an IPS LCD panel, brightness and viewing angles are more than adequate.

Acer Extend bridges the phone with Acer computers, allowing for full access to the handset on a laptop or desktop. Live Screen allows for two-way sharing with a temporary group. The microSD card slot offers expansion, but only up to an extra 32GB.

The 1.5GHz Mediatek MT6732 quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM  proves good enough for the Liquid Jade Z, provided that performance was put in some perspective. For users who focus more on browsing, messaging, email, casual gaming, calls and playing music, the Liquid Jade Z isn’t going to buckle in getting those things done.

The 13-megapixel rear camera is interesting for the sheer fact it has an f/1.8 aperture. That’s the same as the LG G4, one of the best smartphone cameras to date. It’s also among the widest apertures, and that generally translates to better low-light performance. A dozen capture modes are flanked by a handful of scene modes and effects.
Having a thin and light body usually means a smaller battery. At 2,300mAh, the battery in the Liquid Jade Z isn’t huge, but with a less demanding processor and 720p display, it’s not being asked to do as much as it could.

The Liquid Jade Z is an odd device, in many ways. It doesn’t have a distinct look, yet it feels so light to hold that it oscillates between being wieldy and cheap.

Android Phones with Better Cameras than IPhone 6S

The Apple iPhone has been heralded as the leader in smartphone camera quality for a number of years but things have changed alot. If you've been thinking that the IPhone picture quality is awesome, wait till you see the review below. With the release of the IPhone 6S and 6S plus, it was automatically assumed that Apple would once again top the chart, however it appears not to be so.

A leading camera reviewer DxOMark finally reviewed the iPhone 6S, and concluded that, although the megapixels have increased from 8 to 12, the quality is about the same as last year’s iPhone 6. The site gave the iPhone 6S a score of 83 for photos and 80 for videos, which translates to an overall score of 82. That is the same exact score as last year’s iPhone 6 received, but more importantly, there are now seven Android phones with better scores.
As it stands, DxOMark has rated the Sony Xperia Z5 the best smartphone camera with an total score of 87. The original leader, the Galaxy S6 / Galaxy S6 Edge drops to second with a score of 86. It’s followed by the interestingly Google Nexus 6P (84), LG G4 (83), Galaxy Note 4 (83), Moto X Style (83), and Xperia Z3 (82). Its at  the eighth spot we find the iPhone 6 Plus with a score of 82. The iPhone 6 (82) and iPhone 6S (82) round out the top 10.

Facebook - Standalone App for Breaking News

One way it’s attempting to carve out a disproportionate amount our collective attention is by streamlining elements of the user experience. Another is by aggregating news content, that’s up-to-the-minute, easy to access, and somewhat exclusive. It’s the latter effort that’s reportedly getting attention next week: according to the Financial Times, Facebook’s poised to reveal Notify, an app which serves breaking news from around the globe.

The Times report describes Notify as an aggregation of “a range of print, digital and video” news stories from “professional media outlets,” and that seems apt; the service is launching with “a dozen” partners including Vogue, Mashable, CNN, the Washington Post, CBS, Comedy Central, and Billboard magazine, and will work, apparently, by alerting users to breaking news stories to publishers to which they’ve subscribed. It’s in effect a digital portal for developing stories.

Samsung targets foldable screens for 2016

Foldable, flexible, and transparent displays have been around for a while now, but they remain pure concepts rather than actual products. Despite all the curved smartphones that have come out in 2014 and 2015, we still haven’t seen a truly flexible or bendable phone. Now, a report from Business Korea hints that a fully foldable smartphone could hit the market as early as 2016 from none other than Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy Round just the first in a new generation of flexing phones.

Presenting a roadmap of future plans to industry experts, Samsung revealed that 'curved' screens, like the one on the front of the Round, will give way to 'bended' screens next year. Then 'foldable' displays will come along in 2016 and through 2017.

But Samsung identifies "technical challenges" before screens can begin to fold. And even if the screens themselves can fold, that doesn't necessarily mean we'll have folding phones any time soon -- not until folding batteries, processors and other phone gubbins are perfected too.
The Round, flexing its muscles in South Korea, has a concave screen. Although it is on sale to the public, it's reported to be a proof-of-concept and won't necessarily be made widely available in its present form. A spokesperson told me today that "Samsung currently has no plans to bring the Galaxy Round to the UK market."

At an event for analysts reported by SammyHub, Samsung also revealed that sales of the S line of smart phones and Note line of tablets will have collectively sold 100 million by the end of this year. That's a lot of Samsung Galaxy S2, S3 and S4 phones, not to mention a whole heap of Note, Note 2 and Note 3 tablets.

Meet the Galaxy Note 5

Bigger has always been better. Galaxy Note proved that time and again. It also changed the entire game with S Pen. A versatile tool for ideas, goals and dreams. This time it's Galaxy Note5. The most powerful and beautiful version to date.

  • No 128GB Storage Option: Just 32GB and 64GB versions are available. However, you still have to pay more for 64GB, which could also be not enough.
  • Non-Removable Battery: The new design is one of the best things of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and on another hand; Note 5 suffered and sacrificed the removable battery.
  • No Infra-Red Blaster: Other manufacturers are adding new features including infra-red blaster in the phones to expand the usage of phones and it was little surprising in Note 5 as there is in no infra-red blaster.

BLU Studio 7.0 LTE

The new BLU handset has a 7inch display that is 720 x 1280 pixels, this obviously meaning that we are not dealing with a high-end device here. Its runs an Android 5.1, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, the giant smartphone also features an 8 MP rear camera (with Geo tagging and video calling support), a 2 MP front-facing camera, dual SIM support, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, and microSD card slot.

Despite the good qualities of the Studio 7.0 (Dual SIM card and fast mobile data support), it does have a few down sides like its low pixel density screen (210 ppi) and a small RAM size.

It has a builtin 16GB storage that can be expanded with micro SD cards up 64GB. Its data technology can support LTE Cat 4 (150/50 Mbit/s), HSPA (unspecified), HSUPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS.

To power all of this, the BLU Studio 7.0 packs a 3700mAH battery.

BlackBerry Priv - Powered by Android

The Priv is the company's first Android-based smartphone that features slightly rounded edges on both sides of the display, and a slide out QWERTY keyboard.
Android but to be more specific, it's running Android Lollipop 5.1.1. Although it's not entirely outside of the norm, BlackBerry has opted to implement grsecurity as a method of going a little 'above and beyond' when it comes to security on Android.
Grsecurity is an extensive security enhancement to the Linux kernel that defends against a wide range of security threats through intelligent access control, memory corruption-based exploit prevention, and a host of other system hardening that generally require no configuration. It has been actively developed and maintained for the past 14 years.

When BlackBerry released the BlackBerry Passport (one year ago today!), it was the highest-specced device put out by BlackBerry. The BlackBerry Priv aims to keep that going with the rumored specs for the device having thus far proven to be pretty spot on.

  • Processor - Qualcomm Snapdragon 808
  • RAM and Storage - 3GB of RAM, 32GB Expandable Storage
  • Display - 5.4-Inch, 2560x1440, 540ppi
  • Camera - Rear: 18MP, Fast Focus, OIS, 4K video capable. Front: 5MP HD.
  • Battery - 3410 mAh
  • Dimensions - 147 (184 opened) x 77.2 x 9.4 mm

  • The BlackBerry Priv is got a curved display and an all new boot display that displays "powered by android" at the bottom.
Its got an 18MP camera from Schneider behind and a 5MP in front. Priv will be capable of capturing video in 4K and will be running a 64 bit system.
BlackBerry has gone live with the pre-orders for the Android-based BlackBerry Priv smartphones for both the US and Canada in its company's stores. Pricing for the US version is $699 and Canada's price is $899. Shipments are scheduled to begin on November 6.

    Apple TV - 4th Generation

The Apple tv is the new big thing in the ever changing world of electronic and gadgets. At a glance, Apple's long-awaited fourth-generation Apple TV features an A8 processor and 32 to 64GB of storage, along with a touch-based remote control that doubles as a gaming controller. It has a brand new operating system, "tvOS," which includes deep Siri integration and a full App Store.

Apple previewed the original Apple TV — then referred to as iTV — in September of 2006, and again in January of 2007 alongside the original iPhone. Based on a stripped-down version of OS X Tiger and featuring a 40-160GB hard drive, it served only to sync the stuff from iTunes on your computer to your TV. In September of 2010, Apple launched an all-new, second generation Apple TV. Based on iOS, it went from big to small, and from syncing to streaming. It also maxed out at 720p. At least until March 2012 when Apple introduced the current, third-generation Apple TV.

On September 9, 2015, Apple introduce the next generation of Apple TV, what Apple believes is "the future of television". The new Apple TV (fourth-generation) is a setup box — and an all-new Siri remote — with a brand new UI dubbed TV OS. The Apple TV remote features an area for touch gestures (scrolling through movies for example), voice control via Siri, and physical command buttons.

Siri can be used to search via voice for movies and TV shows on iTunes, Netflix, HBO, Hulu, and Showtime, with more services to be added over time. Siri has been designed to understand when a user says, "Show me family movies, animated only", or "Comedies with Jason Bateman", or even, "Show that Modern Family episode with Edward Norton". Siri can also allow users to skip ahead several minutes in a movie or TV show. It can also skip back 15 seconds with temporary captions when someone says, "What did he/she say?". Apple TV owners can ask Siri who is in a movie while that film is running. It can also get more information like sports scores and weather and overlay it when a movie is running. It also allows users to wipe up for more info while pausing a movie.

The new Apple TV is available in two models — 32GB for $149 and 64GB for $199. The Apple TV can be purchased from the online Apple Store and from Apple's retail stores.

    iPhone 7 - In Concept

Is iPhone 7 going to be the biggest, toughest and most secure iPhone yet?

A recent concept video on Youtube that seems to have grabbed everyones attention is one that shows off the iPhone 7 with a full screen. Oddly enough though it still displays a home button? Will we see something like this? Probably not, but it does indicate that more and more people now believe that the screen of the ext iPhone is going to increase in size.

In summary they have the idea that if the iPhone is dropped and it is falling towards the foor screen first then little bumpers would ejct form the sides which would prevent the screen making contact with any hard surface. Now if this does come into play,(very doubtful) would it be like having the airbags go off in your car? It is probable that this is one gimmick, if introduced that would result in you having to take your iPhone back to the store to have the electronic bumpers reset and calibrated. And unfortunatley this is one feature that would not be possible on an iPhone that had a wrap around screen.

Then there is the security of the iPhone 7. Could we see a possible fingerprint recognition sensor being fitted to the back or the side of the iPhone? Other manufacturers have started doing this, Sony is putting fingerprint scanners on the side of their newest phones now, thus freeing up room and the Elephone P7000 and Techno has placed the fingerprint scanner on the back of he handset under the camera. Imagine the fingerprint scanner on the back of the iPhone 7, no home button required at all as 3D touch would enable the user to simply click on the right side to go forward, left side to go back etc….There is talk of there being gesture control built into the iPhone 7, if this is the case if the user wants to scroll up when reading they simply tilt the iPhone..again this is another feauture that would render the home button useless. Over the next couple of weeks we will look at what other features are almost guaranteed to appear with the 2016 iPhone.

Traveling back time, we can see that since 2013 Apple has been releasing its product in the month of September. iPhone 5c and 5s were launched on 10 September(2013), iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were launched on 9th September(2014) and iPhone 6s and 6s Plus were launched on 9 September, 2015. Therefore, we are expecting Apple to maintain this tradition next year as well. However, our close observation reveals that Apple prefers launching their product on Tuesdays. So the most probable days for releasing Apple’s phone will be either 6th or 13th September, 2016. And thereafter it will be released globally by the end of the month. On the other hand, there are also rumors that Apple is going to launch its next generation iPhones i.e. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7s in two different dates. This decision might have been taken to deal with the global competition. So we can expect iPhone 7 in coming spring and iPhone 7s in the next autumn. If these phones are not released simultaneously, then we are not expecting some major updates to be included in the two phones. However, these are mere speculations and we are not really sure about it.
